Dr. Lara graduated with her DVM in May 2012 from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated with a BS in Zoology and Biological Sciences in May 2008 from North Carolina State University. Dr. Lara volunteered at many small animal clinics in the Asheville/Brevard area after graduation before finding her dream position at Landrum Veterinary Hospital in 2014.
Dr. Lara has 5 pets at home currently: Molly (a blonde Toto-mix Terrier that is the pillow princess of the house), Milly and Betty (two goofy Golden Retriever girls), Sirius (a black spitfire Domestic Shorthaired cat), and Betelgeuse (a black/white Domestic Shorthaired silly cat).
Dr. Lara’s amazing husband, Josh, is a mechanical engineer/tool-and-die maker at a manufacturing facility in Arden, NC. They live in Hendersonville, NC and both are very happy living in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina.
Dr. Lara enjoys preventative medicine, internal medicine, and soft tissue surgery. She loves working with canine patients, but particularly enjoys working with felines and trying to make their visit a stress-free experience (Dr. Lara loves a “challenging” kitty patient!). She enjoys communicating with her clients and making them feel comfortable and well-informed about their pet’s health.
When she is not at work, Dr. Lara loves cooking, playing board games with husband/friends, learning all Harry Potter trivia, and she continues to aspire to become an expert Theremin player.
