What is CAVM?

Complementary and alternative medicine (CAVM) is the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases or conditions that complement the more orthodox or conventional concepts of medicine. CAVM includes among other things, nutraceuticals, herbals, special diets, chiropractic and manipulative therapies and acupuncture.

Over the last several decades both human and veterinary medicine has become a bit more diversified in their concepts. One example is the use of Chinese herbal formulas to treat nausea in chemo patients.

Here at Landrum Veterinary Hospital we strive to provide your pets with the best options to meet their needs to return to or maintain optimal health. This often includes the use of various CAVM modalities along with the more orthodox medical practices.
